Mat 4:21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
We wouldn’t know who Zebedee is or anything about him if it weren’t for his sons James Zebedee and John Zebedee and Mrs. Zebedee who pleaded for Jesus to allow her two boys to sit on the right and left side of His throne. James Zebedee became the pastor of the Church at Jerusalem and was the first martyr. John Zebedee was chosen to write 50 chapters of the Bible. These two fellows were insiders with Jesus. They were on the Mount of Transfiguration with Him, they were in the Garden of Gethsemane, they were at Calvary. John was at the grave of the Lord and I am sure they are both in Heaven with the Lord right now, but where was Zebedee? He was too busy mending his nets!
There is nothing wrong with mending nets. There is nothing wrong with owning a boat. There is nothing wrong with going fishing or a dozen other similar things, but these things kept Zebedee from meeting Jesus. Zebedee never got to see Jesus work miracles. He never got to hear Him preach. He was not there when Jesus hung on the cross. He never looked into the empty tomb. He missed all that because he was too busy mending his nets. Where is Zebedee. I am afraid he might be suffering in torment at this very moment because he was too occupied with his nets.
I hope my readers won’t let this happen to them!

I have not tied all the Zebedee's together like this before. Good info, thanks..
Stunning! I certainly don't want to be in that spot.
Very good brother! Never thought about it that way, but so true. So many are so busy with things that are not that important that they miss the One who is the most important. Great post.
