PRO 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Never before in the history of our country have our kids been in more trouble than they are now. We have an alarming teen-age pregnancy rate; a high drop out rate from school; increased gang-activity; kids carrying & using weapons on a daily basis.
The Q: What went wrong? We have removed the Bible from our children's basic education. No education is complete without studying the Scriptures. Yet, this country has removed the Bible from the public schools. It is no longer taught; it is no longer believed; it is no longer legal.
How many of our problems in society can be traced back to the lack of Bible in education? Look at our youth today...their lives are not built on a solid foundation of the Scriptures, and we can clearly see the result: our entire society is affected by their actions: violence, ungodly behaviour.
We are seeing entire generations of young adults who were not raised on the Bible, and we are reaping the consequences as a country: moving farther & farther away from God...
How do we "Train up a child in the way he should go"? Train up = to train, with a purpose, systematically; To dedicate, through special instruction...
Does the Church actually "train up" our youth or merely entertain them today? Many youth programs are glorified baby-sitting services; some are based purely on having fun...what should be the happy medium between fun & learning? This command is an imperative in the Hebrew: which stresses it's importance: teaching our youth is extremely important, and is something that God expects us to do...Is the end result of our bible teaching designed to "dedicate" our youth to the Lord & His service? If a child is not taught the Bible in his youth, is it surprising that he joins a society that doesn't know God?
Is it possible to be a moral person without being a Christian? "I am moral, but not a Christian."
Isn't that a self-pronouncement? By what standard can one make such a judgment? There must be a standard! And this standard must be apart from the person...The statement: "I am moral" means nothing unless it can be compared to a standard...this is the problem today...no standard.
Where does morality come from - and what is it? Morality is a code of conduct that comes from God.
One is moral, not because he follows this code, but only if he know and follows the One who gave the code.
The verse stresses the importance of Bible study & Bible teaching. Are you a student?

WOW! This is such a great post and a wonderful point. It makes me a little more secure in our decision to home school our kids. To raise them to KNOW God, not just know of Him.
"What went wrong". Simply answered, THE PARENTS....Thanks Bro. Dave.
One word....'AMEN!'.
Very good brother! Our society is going further and further away from God daily. And you are so right without a standard there can be no morality!
