I am really concerned about the lack of commitment in Christianity to the Church. Our local churches are full of "part time Christians" if you ask them they love the Lord and He is first in there life. If they do love Him (as they say) then tell me why don't they love his church? How can they stay home from church. It is no big deal to them to miss Sunday School, Sunday morning, Sunday night, or Wednesday night. It's as if they are looking for any "reason" to stay home. It makes me wonder about their Prayer life, Bible reading, and giving.
I can remember when my wife and I started going to church, when she got saved and I got right with God we made some decisions. One thing we felt we had to decide about was church. Where to go? How involved we would be? What priority church would have in our home? Our girls were 2 and 5 and we knew that the importance we placed on faithfulness to church would be what would determine the importance they would put on church, when they got older. So we looked at the bible and saw how much the church meant to Christ and this verse, Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; seamed to be the one that we used to determine the level of commitment we would make.
So we decided then, that we would go to church and be faithful to the church just like we were faithful to each other. So the decision was made it was settled every Sunday school, Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night, for the rest of our life we would go to church. The only time we would miss would be if we were so sick we had to go to the doctor or we were "at" work. The question has never come up at our home "Are we going to church tonight?" that was decided back then.
I don't know who will read this, (not near as many as I would like) but I challenge you to love the church as Christ loves the church and give yourself for it.

There would be a whole lot less divorce if we were able to grasp this truth. Loyalty is so important. Thanks for the post.
Great post, Bro. Dave. I'll just add on to what Bro. Andy said... there would be a whole lot less of everything if people were as loyal to God and the church as they are to everything else.
So true, it hurts.
