Fathers Day

Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Tomorrow is "Father’s Day". It is a day that we recognize the fathers of our church. It is also the day that Dad gets a bunch of new neckties and shaving lotion. If he is really fortunate, he might even get invited out to dinner after church, such as is my case.

Tradition has never made as much of Father's Day as is done on Mother's Day, and I believe that is justifiably so. The mother and wife should be recognized more so because of her nature and position in the home.

The father or husband is to be the source by which the home functions. If the father fails, then the home will fail. It will be impossible for a home to operate in a Bible manner if the father is not a proper kind of father. I don't mean to be hard, cruel, or out of place, but the Bible makes no provision for a home without a father. If the home has no father then there is no Bible instructions for that home. I realize that many mothers must go on and make the home the best she can when the husband or father leaves.

The Father must:

A. Protect his children and family from the ways of the world. The world system will swallow your child up before he/she is 5 years old. TV will see to that. You should NOT let your child watch TV unguarded. Maybe you have some videos that you know are OK. That’s different, but to allow them to choose their own viewing channels is a grave mistake, and you will lose your child.

B. Not allow them to play with just anyone. Every time they play with another child, be sure you have chosen who that person is. Your children are now or will become who they hang around.

C. Surround them with truth, character, faithfulness, and the word of god. Then you will see your child become a Godly person.

Dad, have you been saved?
Dad, do you have a Christian home?
Dad, are you a godly example for your wife and your children?
Dad, are you surrendered to the will of God?

If you have answered "no" to any of these questions, then you need to get some things straightened out.

Why don’t you do business with God?
