Leadership is not a position – Leadership is a function. The first function of a leader is to make the purpose of the organization known. The purpose of the organization should be the vision. The leader should personify the vision. The purpose of Northwest Baptist Church is “to know Christ and to make Him known to a world that knows Him not”.
As leaders must see farther down the road than those we leads
Three qualities in leaders that people want to follow
1. They know someone others do not know
2. They do something others have not done
3. They know something others do not know
People will only follow you nowhere once or twice; they will then look for someone else to follow.
Followers look for places to lay the blame – Leaders look for ways to make improvement
Everything we do as leaders should be working toward the purpose we personify.

Excellent points. That accepting of responsibility statement is spot on. Anyone can pass it off-- managers can pass it off. Leaders cannot.
No Purpose, No Motivation, and No Directon= No Leadership. Great Post!
Dr. Roberson was always fond of saying "Everything rises and falls based on leadership".
I'm glad you are my leader! And a good one too!!
That is a lesson I needed to hear. Thanks Pastor!
