The Danger of No Vision

Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish:”

The Danger of No Vision – the people perish!

Prime example: the children of Israel, wandering in the wilderness after seeing Canaan.

A. No Purpose in Life - live just to please self; only what is fun, necessary, etc.

•The wilderness was a path to the purpose; it wasn’t the purpose of their deliverance.
•They woke up every morning and started walking, but where were they going?
•They didn’t want to go to Canaan. They couldn’t go back to Egypt. Where were they going???

B. No Plan in Life - just take one day at a time; what will happen will happen

•God had a plan for them. It is revealed in Exodus 3:8
•They mistook the pillar of fire and cloud that was with them as confirmation of God’s will.
•Never mistake God’s presence for God’s plan!!!!
•He said he’d never leave us or forsake us; even if we are out of his will.
•Don’t settle for the Pillars of God when you can have the Plan of God!

C. No Passion in Life – if you have no passion, you will not have any desires

•Their passions were centered around themselves.
•They couldn’t stop bellyaching about what they wanted and what they needed and what they had when they were in Egypt.
•They had no passion for an abundant life both for themselves and their children.
•Their passion was SELF!!!

D. No Problems in Life – the devil doesn’t fight dead people!!

•Where there’s no vision, there’s no opposition.
•God’s plan for them involved a land flowing with milk and honey, but it also involved battles, giants and walled cities.
•Their lack of vision resulted in a lack of problems.
•Does the thought of battles scare you?
•Does the thought of opposition dampen your vision for yourself and for your family?

Very good post! As a missionary that's one thing I don't want to live without. I must have a vision!
