THE TUMBLE WEED

The scholarly Bible preacher, Dr. Kenny McComas, tells of a weed in South America that compares to the tumble weed in the prairie lands of North America.
When the ground becomes too dry to support life it loosens its roots and frees itself to roll wherever the wind may take it. If it finds a little moisture it hesitates there and puts down its roots and absorbs what it can. When that spots becomes dry it again pulls up its roots and rolls on.
Most of its lifetime is spent searching for life giving water and seldom comes upon an area that will give permanent satisfaction of its need.
The rocky dry surface of the world system is like that. People go from experience to experience, job to job, from one mate to another trying to find what they are looking for. Many try alcohol, drugs, sex, pleasure and such, but never seem to find happiness.

Paul speaks of being carried about by every wind of doctrine. The various religions of the world and humanistic philosophies of self seeking people never provide peace and satisfaction.
Paul also said, Php 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Paul tried to find what he was searching for in the office of the Pharisee in the political arena and intellectual pursuit and in striving for financial success but to no avail.
He found what he was looking for in Christ on the Damascus road. His values were changed and he put down his roots in a Biblical relationship with the Lord.
He gives some unique advice to those who are searching and seeking. Php 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
